Dr. Heydeck obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Science from Penn State University and his Doctorate degree in Cellular, Molecular and Developmental Biology from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Dr. Heydeck is currently a Postdoctoral Associate whose research in our laboratory focuses on human genetics. He started his research career in marine science and oceanography studying oyster genetics. Dr. Heydeck then worked as a technician in a mouse embryonic development lab studying the role of cilia in signal transduction and embryonic patterning. His doctoral training focused on identifying genes that are important for assembling and maintaining basal bodies in the ciliate, Tetrahymena thermophila.
